History
Papa Murphy’s, based in Vancouver, Washington, is the pioneer of the take and bake concept. The company started doing business in 1981 and started franchising in 1982. Today, Papa Murphy’s is the largest take and bake pizza company in the country and the fifth largest pizza chain in the U.S. In addition to enjoying a growing customer base and a solid reputation for quality, Papa Murphy’s has received high praise from the pizza industry itself. In the annual Consumer’s Choice in Chains survey conducted by Restaurants & Institutions magazine, Papa Murphy’s has been named the “Best Pizza Chain in America” for the past seven years, including 2009.
Quality
A key driver of Papa Murphy’s success is the connection the consumer has with the product. Not only do customers decide which fresh, high-quality ingredients top their pizza, but they have the pleasure of baking it right in their own ovens for a piping hot delicious meal whenever they want. The dough is prepared daily in each store using high protein wheat flour. Each pizza features fresh ingredients, including 100 percent all-natural, whole-milk mozzarella, cheddar and provolone cheeses. Papa Murphy’s uses only real meat toppings, with no fillers, including savory Canadian bacon, premium salami, pepperoni, Italian sausage and ground beef. Fresh produce, including Roma tomatoes, mushrooms, green peppers and onions, are sliced and diced daily.
Training & Support
Papa Murphy's offers extensive training for new franchise owners, including in-store skill training and structured classroom training. The experienced real estate team offers assistance with the store location process and the design & construction team work closely with each owner during the build out process of the store. The marketing department is responsible for helping each owner to develop a high-impact grand opening plan and a national print advertising campaign along with continuous local store marketing. Each franchise owner receives on-going support from a Director of Franchise Operations that is dedicated to ensuring they have all the tools and knowledge to operate their business to the best of their ability.
Pride
Papa Murphy’s take and bake concept, stripped of dine-in or delivery hassles, is a great franchise opportunity with a lower initial investment, compared to the national pizza chain industry.
